It was announced in Los Angeles that the PBS program, “When Parents Are Deployed” will be
recognized by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with an Emmy nomination for
“Outstanding Primetime Children’s Program”. The show, hosted by Cuba Gooding Jr.,
was produced, written and directed by Joseph Pipher.
“When Parents Are Deployed” documents the real lives of military families, depicting
their sacrifice and courage during wartime deployment of a parent and in some cases, both
parents.
The program was produced for Sesame Workshop by Pipher’s production company, JoLee
TV and has already won numerous industry honors including two Gold Camera Awards
from the International Film and Television Competition for “Social Issues and Concerns”.
The Emmy Awards will be announced at a ceremony on September 16th, 2007 at
the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and will be broadcast nationally on FOX TV.
